Why Regular Grooming Matters

Grooming isn't just about appearance — it's an important part of your dog's overall health. Regular grooming helps you spot potential health issues early and keeps your dog comfortable.

Brushing

Brushing frequency depends on your dog's coat type:

  • Short coats: Weekly brushing
  • Medium coats: 2-3 times per week
  • Long coats: Daily brushing
  • Double coats: Daily during shedding season

Bathing

Most dogs need bathing every 4-8 weeks, depending on their coat and activity level. Use dog-specific shampoo — human products can irritate their skin.

Nail Trimming

Trim nails every 2-4 weeks, or when you hear clicking on hard floors. If you're uncomfortable trimming nails, your vet or a groomer can help.

Ear Cleaning

Check ears weekly for redness, odor, or discharge. Clean gently with a vet-approved ear solution. Dogs with floppy ears may need more frequent checks.

Dental Care

Brush your dog's teeth several times a week with dog-safe toothpaste. Dental health is often overlooked but is crucial for overall wellbeing.
